L’Association des hôtels du Canada (AHC) et ses membres se sont mobilisés pour protéger les moyens de subsistance de l’industrie hôtelière. Nous devons renforcer ce travail de défense des intérêts dès maintenant pour assurer la survie de l’industrie.

Pourquoi maintenant?
L’industrie hôtelière a été la première à être frappée et elle sera la dernière à se rétablir. Elle aura besoin d’un soutien supplémentaire et continu du gouvernement pour survivre. Pour ce faire, l’Association doit accroître et maintenir ses efforts de lobbying jusqu’à la fin de 2020, voire au-delà.

COVID YEAR ONE & TWO
L’AHC collabore avec les plus hautes sphères du gouvernement pour veiller à ce que l’industrie hôtelière soit soutenue au cours de la pandémie. Ces efforts sont axés sur la conception de systèmes relatifs aux programmes de soutien. Dans ce contexte, l’AHC a joué un rôle clé en ce qui concerne l’accès du secteur hôtelier. Chaque programme gouvernemental important annoncé à ce jour correspond directement aux principales demandes de l’AHC. Mais il reste encore du travail à faire et il n’y a pas assez d’aide pour un secteur aussi durement touché.

Employment Measures

Secured substantial support for employees through CEWS and CERB

Influenced design of CEWS to include all hotels and increased subsidy from 10% to 75%, and a 25% top up for hard hit businesses

Successfully extended CEWS six times, most recently until October 2021

Reversed the wind-down of CEWS twice and ensured coverage to Fall 2021

Increased CEWS coverage to 75%, announced in the 2020 Fall Economic Statement

Secured additional wage subsidy support for employees through the Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP)

Secured commitment to provide targeted wage and fixed costs support through the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program until Spring 2022

Secured HST/GST deferrals and mortgage deferrals
